Carrie Underwood shared a look at what happened during a commercial break on American Idol on Sunday evening (April 20).

Underwood led an a cappella sing-along of “Before He Cheats” with the Idol audience. The award-winning country star released the iconic, scathing cheating anthem on her debut album, Some Hearts, in 2005. Underwood released the album months after her career-launching victory on American Idol’s fourth season. She returned to the show as a judge for the first time this year, two decades after winning the competition herself. Underwood previously said her highly-anticipated return to American Idol “feels like home.” Relive her Idol journey in nostalgic photos here.

American Idol viewers saw Underwood perform a much different song during the show. The season four champion celebrated Easter when she took the stage during Sunday night’s “Songs of Faith” episode to perform “How Great Thou Art.” The powerful ballad is of 13 tracks included on her Grammy Award-winning album of gospel hymns, My Savior. Underwood released the record in March 2021. American Idol’s Easter episode also included performances by Underwood’s fellow judges, Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie, plus CeCe Winans and Roman Collins, first-ever artist in residence Jelly Roll with Brandon Lake, and more.
