A new study looked at the 50 lowest paying jobs in America. Here are the Top 10. The average for all of them is between $30,000 and $34,000 a year when working full time.
1. Shampooer. Someone who works at a salon but only washes hair. It's usually an entry-level job when you're trying to be a stylist. $30,830 a year.
2. Fast food cook. Meaning you only work in the kitchen. You don't ring people up or work the drive-thru.
3. Amusement and recreation attendants. People who run amusement park rides or concession stands.
4. Fast food counter workers. They make a little more than cooks because they have to deal with people...and people can be jerks.
5. Ushers, lobby attendants, and ticket takers. Folks who work at theaters and concert venues.
6. Cashiers. There are over three million of them in the U.S., making an average of $31,810 a year.
7. Hosts and hostesses at restaurants and coffee shops. They make about $6,000 less than servers.
8. Gambling and sports book writers and runners. So people who help facilitate bets at casinos, or run games like keno.
9. Child care workers. Including daycare workers, babysitters, and nannies. It's one of the most important jobs in America, but the average is just $33,140.
10. Dishwashers. They earn an average of $33,220 a year, or about $1,500 more than the hostess out front.
