Tired Of Procrastinating? Maybe It's Time For A "Forcing Party"

This seems like a really great idea! I could see my group of friends getting some serious SH*$ accomplished.

Tired of procrastinating? Just get a little help from your friends. “Forcing parties” are trending. And it’s not what it sounds like...

It all started with a post on X by a user named Tyler who said he needed someone to help him get things done. "Sometimes you need a coach or therapist, and sometimes you just need someone to invade your life and force [you] to book the doctor’s appointment, finish the writing assignment, submit the job application, etc.” he wrote. "Does this sort of person exist for hire?"

His friend Crystal then suggested they help each other, which led to the idea of hosting a party where friends gather to "force" each other to complete those tasks and projects they’ve been putting off.

Tyler later posted: “In the middle of a ‘forcing party’ where friends and I are forcing one another to do the things that we've been avoiding. So far: A passport has been filed for, an inbox has been zeroed, a personal website has been created, and more. I recommend this format!”

Many people loved the idea and wanted to have “forcing parties” of their own. If the name bothers you, some suggested alternatives like: Git 'er Done Party, Just Do It Party, Procrastinator Party, or Motivation Madness. Whatever you call it, the idea is to get together with friends and use the accountability, companionship, and fun to tackle all those things you’ve been putting off.
