The Most Brutally Honest Divorce Lyrics From Kelsea Ballerini's New EP

Kelsea Ballerini released Rolling Up the Welcome Mat -- a six-song EP chronicling the demise of her marriage to Morgan Evans, whom she divorced last year.

"When I listen to Subject to Change, I hear a lot of self-reflection and turmoil. This is the deep dive into that turmoil. I was writing by myself for most of the project, and it was nice to trust myself again."

Here are some of the most brutally honest lyrics from the EP:

"Mountain With A View"

"I’m wearing the ring still, but I think I’m lying

Sometimes you forget yours, I think we’re done trying

I realize you loved me much more at 23

I think that this is when it’s over for me"

"Just Married"

"Yeah, it was love

Then it was just married"

"Interlude"

"The rumors goin' around but the truth is kinda nuanced

I wanna set it straight but my lawyers say I shouldn't

And ain't it like this town to only criticize the woman?"

"Blindsided"

"And now you're saying that you're lost, and that's lost on me

You didn't ever wanna leave the house, I didn't want a family"

AND

"Like that one time in 2019, before that big show, we had a big fight

I slept on the couch and then the next night you put on your suit

I put on a smile and sang about how it's okay to cry, dying inside"

"Leave Me Again"

"I hope you're spending Christmas with your family

I hope you're writing songs that you love

I hope you're feeling happier than you've ever been

And I hope I never leave me again" (GENIUS.COM)

Accompanying the album is a short film in which she lays her feelings on the line in song.
