Megan Moroney shared a sweet tribute to her best friend on her wedding day.
Moroney, 28, performed a song she wrote for best friend Natalie when Natalie said “I do” to husband Alex. The newlyweds got married over the weekend in Turks and Caicos. Moroney has since shared glimpses of the couple’s breathtaking wedding day.
“I've played this song a lot, but I think that this might be the most meaningful time that I play it,” Moroney said in a clip she shared on TikTok on Monday (May 25). “For those of you that don't know, the first song I ever released was a song written for Natalie. She was trying to date some loser. …In the song, I'm telling Natalie that if you just hold out, you're going to find someone who just shows up early, and you're never gonna have to wonder how he feels about you. And I definitely think with Alex, you've found that. …It’s happy! We’re celebrating!”
Moroney went on to play “Wonder” for a crowd of wedding guests.
The award-winning country star returned from her best friend’s wedding in time to kick off her headlining arena tour. Moroney will start the “Cloud 9 Tour” on Friday (May 29) in Columbus, Ohio. The tour celebrates the Georgia-born artist’s third studio record, Cloud 9, which includes “Medicine,” “6 Months Later,” “Beautiful Things,” collaborations with Ed Sheeran and Kacey Musgraves, “Wish I Didn’t” and more.
“I am so excited for my fans and I to dive into this new world of Cloud 9 together,” Moroney previously said in a statement. “Similar to the first two albums [2023’s Lucky and 2024’s Am I Okay?], it’s all written about honest, personal experiences, but these songs were written by the strongest, most confident version of myself I’ve ever been. My feet feel firmly planted in my artistry and it was fun to play around sonically, while still sticking to my roots of what my fans and I love. Cloud 9 is a state of mind, and I have no doubt this will be the best chapter yet.”
